Panasonic Toughbook FZ-T1 rugged handheld launched

  Panasonic has launched the Toughbook FZ-T1 smartphone. The company is targetting a different market - the enterprise segment, including retail and hospitality, manufacturing, transportation and logistics. It will be available in two model options - Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi and 4G. The Toughbook FZ-T1 is designed for military standard 810G, dust and water resistant to IP68, tumble tested and capable of withstanding drops of up to 1.5m, and operating within a temperature range of -10 to +50C.


  The Panasonic Toughbook FZ-T1 has 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels), anti-reflective, daylight viewable, 10 point multi touch capacitive touchscreen supporting glove and rain mode. It is powered by a 1.1 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 (APQ8009) Mobile Platform with Adreno 304 GPU. It has 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, expandable memory with microSD card. It is running on Android 8.1 Oreo OS.

  It has integrated barcode scanner with two trigger buttons, either side of the device, and will also get a separate long and short range barcode scanning. The long and short range gun barcode scanning in the FZ-T1 makes it ideal for inventory management.

  The Toughbook FZ-T1 has 8MP rear camera with LED flash. Surprisingly, there is no front-facing camera. It has 3 Microphones, it 2 front-facing microphones and a 1 microphone on the back.

  It has 4G LTE (Optional), WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS / aGPS connectivity. It has microUSB port and a 3.5mm Audio jack. It packs a 3200mAh battery.

  The Panasonic Toughbook FZ-T1 handheld with Wi-Fi version is priced at £1,142 (US$ 1,515 / 1,02,815 approx.) and will be available in August 2018, priced at £1,214 (US$ 1,610 / 1,09,262 approx.). The 4G voice and data version will be available from September 2018 across Europe.
