Sony Xperia 8 with dual rear camera setup, Snapdragon 630 SoC, Android 9 pie OS announced

  Sony has announced the Xperia 8 smartphone in India. It sports a 6-inch (2560 x 1080 pixels) Full HD+ Display with 21:9 aspect ratio, and it has Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. It comes with a Glass back panel with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. It is IP65 / IP68 certified for water and dust resistant.


  The Xperia 8 is powered by the 2.2 GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 630 14nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 508 GPU. It packs 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage, and you can expand storage up to 512GB with microSD card. It runs on Android 9.0 Pie OS out of the box.

  The Xperia 8 features a dual rear camera setup, it has a 12MP primary rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, EIS, and a secondary 8MP camera with f/2.4 aperture, 2x optical zoom and LED flash. It comes with a 8MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. It does support face. It has got side mounted fingerprint sensor.

  The Xperia 8 has 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), Bluetooth 5 LE, GPS, GLONASS and NFC connectivity. It has a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack with LDAC for high-resolution audio. It packs 2760mAh battery and supports fast charging.

Price and Availability

  The Sony Xperia 8 is priced at 54,000 yen (US$ 505 / Rs. 35,840 approx.) including tax, and 50,000 yen (US$ 467 / Rs. 33,180 approx.) in Japan. The Xperia 8 will remain exclusive to Japan and will go on sale in Japan from late October.
