Redmi 8 with 5000mAh battery, dual rear camera setup, 18W fast charging support launched in India

  Redmi 8 smartphone has been launched in India. It sports a 6.22-inch (1520 × 720 pixels) HD+ 2.5D curved glass display with 19:9 aspect ratio, and it has got Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It comes with dedicated dual SIM and a dedicated microSD card slot. The smartphone has P2i splash resistant nano coating.


  The Redmi 8 is powered by the Octa-Core (Quad 1.95GHz Cortex A53 + Quad 1.45GHz Cortex A53) Snapdragon 439 12nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 505 GPU. It packs 3GB RAM with 32GB storage / 4GB RAM with 64GB Internal storage, and you can expand storage up to 512GB with microSD card via dedicated microSD card slot. It runs on Android 9.0 Pie OS with MIUI 10 UI.

  The Redmi 8 features a dual rear camera setup, it has a 12MP rear camera with Sony IMX363 sensor, 1.4μm pixel size, f/1.8 aperture, 6P lens, Dual PD auto focus, and a secondary 2MP camera with LED flash. It comes with a 8MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and 1.12μm pixel size. It does support face unlock.

  The Redmi 8 features a rear mounted fingerprint sensor and it also has infrared sensor. It has Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS + GLONASS connectivity. It has a USB Type-C port and 3.5mm audio jack. It houses a 5000mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging.

Price and Availability

  The Redmi 8 is priced at Rs. 7999 for the 3GB RAM with 32GB storage version and Rs. 8999 for the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage version, which will be available for Rs. 7999 for the first 5 million or 50 lakh units sold. It will be available on Flipkart, mi.com and Mi Home Stores starting from October 12th.
