Sony Xperia 5 with Triple rear camera setup, Snapdragon 855 SoC, 6.1-inch OLED HDR Display announced

  Sony Mobile has announced Xperia 5, the company’s latest smartphone at the IFA 2019. It sports a 6.1-inch (1080 x 2520pixels) FHD+ OLED HDR Display with 21:9 aspect ratio, X1 for mobile, DCI-P3 100%, and it has got Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. It comes with a glass back panel with Gorilla Glass 6 protection. It is IP65 / IP68 certified for water resistant. It has single / dual nano SIM card slot.


  The Xperia 5 is powered by the Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 7nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 640 GPU. It packs 6GB RAM with 128GB internal storage, and you can expand storage up to 512GB via microSD card. It runs on Android 9.0 Pie OS out of the box.


  The Sony Xperia 5 features a triple rear camera setup, it has a 12MP primary rear camera with Exmor RS sensor, 1/2.6″ sensor, f/1.6 aperture, Hybrid OIS/EIS, 1.4μm pixel size, Predictive capture, a 12MP 135° ultra wide-angle sensor with f/2.4 aperture, and a 12MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture 1/3.4″ sensor 1.0μm pixel size, Hybrid OIS/EIS and 2x optical zoom. It can record 960fps Super slow motion videos. It comes with a 8MP front-facing camera with 84° wide-angle leno, f/2.0 aperture and 1.12μm pixel size. It supports face unlock.

  The Sony Xperia 5 features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. It has 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz / 5GHz) MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS/ GLONASS and NFC connectivity. It has USB 3.1 Type-C port but you will miss the 3.5mm audio jack. It comes with Stereo speaker, DSEE HX, LDAC and Dolby Atmos audio. It houses a 3140mAh battery and supports USB Power Delivery fast charging.

Price and Availability

  The Sony Xperia 5 is priced at £699 (US$ 862 / Rs. 61,990 approx.) and will roll out various countries and regions from October 2019. Pre-orders will begin from 18th September in UK.
