Sony RX100 VII compact camera launched and priced at USD $1200

Sony RX100 VII compact camera has been launched. It features a 20.1MP 1.0-type (13.2mm x 8.8mm) 3:2 Exmor RS CMOS sensor with DRAM chip, the company said that the camera uses back-illumination technology for increased light-collection efficiency. The standard ISO range is 100-12800, expanded to ISO64 and ISO80 for stills. According to the company the camera will deliver superior autofocus performance and achieves speed breakthroughs that have previously only been seen on the Alpha 9.

The Sony RX100 Vll comes with a ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T 24-200 mm F2.8-4.5 high-resolution zoom lens with 8.0x Optical Zoom. The camera offers 357 focal-plane phase-detection AF points and 425 contrast-detection AF points. The company said that the image sensor realises blackout-free shooting for a completely live view, even when continuous shooting at 20fps; the same experience as the Alpha 9. There is drive mode option which uses Single Burst Shooting for capturing the perfect high-speed shot at up to 90fps in JPEG/RAW format utilising the anti-distortion shutter.

It comes with a Real-Time Eye AF features, this feature will help you to detect the eyes of your subjects, even when part of the face is hidden, the face is backlit or the subject is facing downwards. With up to 60 AF calculations per second.

The Sony RX100 VII can record 960fps/1000fps super slow motion videos. The camera comes with a Anti-distortion features, the electronic shutter achieves speeds as fast as 1/32000 sec., while fast data readout from the image sensor reduces distortion for fast-moving subjects.
